The translation just came out on Mangastream and this was different the other I read but…did Chrome just say she LOVES Mukuro!?!?! OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *SQUEES AND RUNS AROUND* OH HOW I LOVE THE 6996 SHIPPING!!! So far with in the past few chapters 2 of my favorite shippings have seemed to become more canon!!!! First Colonello x Lal and now Mukuro x Chrome I CANNOT BE HAPPIER RIGHT NOW!!!!! *continues to run around all happy and giddy giggling and fangirling*

I think the word Chrome used in Japanese was “suki,” which afaik can mean deep like or love. Though of course she loves him. I’ve never really doubted that.

MUKURO, WHAT WITH THAT HEART HEALING LINE, THOUGH. It appeared in both translations, so it must be legit.

I am going to continue to ponder what on Earth “heart healing” means in this context.

Also, I’m not surprised 6996 has become more canon. I think if you look closely at some of the narrative things surrounding them, it was an obvious trajectory even as far back as the Glo Xinia fight. Things like M.M. slapping Chrome — from a writerly perspective, being a writer myself and thinking like a writer, there isn’t much point in putting “romantic rivals” into a storyline (in as much as she is) for a relationship that’s ultimately intended to be platonic or siblingsy. Other things like that, too.
